Vision: To promote and sustain a well-trained, well-educated, highly skilled and qualified workforce that is actively engaged in lifelong learning. This diverse workforce will attract and retain viable, growth-oriented industries through excellent work ethics and job dedication to promote economic stability and enhance the quality of life in Region XVII. Our Workforce Development System will serve as a model for the Commonwealth of Virginia through consistent high performance, flexibility and continuous customer satisfaction. Mission: To develop and implement local workforce strategies through the collaborative efforts of local businesses, elected officials and state agencies/programs that encourage economic growth through maximum employment and full utilization of workforce skills, experience and expertise. To design and implement an effective, flexible, results-oriented workforce development system which will 1) provide a systematic approach to identifying employers' needs and current and prospective employees' capabilities, 2) meet the needs of our customers, 3) provide continuous feedback for improving the system, and 4) leverage available resources to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of workforce development activities and services
